Vaccine Passports: Traveling Internationally During the Pandemic? Your Entire Family – Including Kids – Will Need To Be Vaccinated!

In the new Covid-19 world that we live in, there’s just no way around it. While there are still a lot of people contemplating on whether or not they should get their vaccine for Covid-19, the CEO of Qatar Airways says that you are going to need it if you expect to travel internationally in the coming weeks, months, and years. Make that you and your entire family, including your kids. Here’s what you need to know.

Want To Travel Internationally? Your Entire Family – Including Kids- Will Need To Be Vaccinated

According to CNBC this week, the CEO of Qatar Airways, considered the flagship Middle Eastern airline, says that vaccinations will likely be a trend in air travel as the tourism industry is desperately trying to get things the way they were before the pandemic began during the first quarter of 2020.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker told CNBC in a new interview, “In the short term, yes, I think that the vaccine passport will be helpful to give confidence both to governments and to the passengers in our industry to start travelling again.”

When asked if vaccines will be necessary in order to fly, he added, “I think this will be the trend initially, because the world needs to open people need to have confidence in the air travel. I think this will be a trend that will happen until such a time that people are certain that there is a proper cure, or proper treatment for this very serious pandemic we are facing today.”

But what about your kids? Family travel is surely going to get complicated this summer, and especially since kids and young adults are not eligible for their vaccinations just yet. While many countries such as Iceland and Thailand are opening up to vaccinated Americans, many families with children are feeling largely left out of the conversation.

Of course, there have been some exceptions – like Greece, which opened to some countries last summer – but multiple waves and hot spots are forcing countries to close before they reopen again.

What’s more, a recent survey suggested that 90 percent of traveling families with young children said that amid unclear guidelines on Covid-19 testing, they were searching for flexible bookings.

While one in three adults in the U.S. have now received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. But a full pediatric Covid-19 vaccine currently isn’t expected until the end of 2021. That means you might want to delay that trip to Aruba or the Cayman Islands until at least next year.

For now, mask-wearing, keeping your distance, and washing your hands will likely be recommended for the considerable future. Currently, everyone over the age of two who hasn’t been vaccinated still has to be tested within three days prior to flights back to the U.S.
