Are Happily Ever After Fireworks Returning to Walt Disney World in July?

Speculation is running rampant about Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After Fireworks at Walt Disney World returning on July 21st, 2021.

Since Disney World reopened there have been many changes made to rules, regulations and the parks’ entertainment and guest experiences. As CDC guidelines have changed with the vaccine roll outs, WDW has also adapted with more character dining and physically distanced character meet and greets popping up around the resort, along with temperature check screenings and face covering mandates phasing out.

Now it is looking like nighttime entertainment will be the next big thing to change. Tokyo Disneyland brought back their evening firework shows briefly before Japan’s Covid outbreaks reduced park hours and offerings again.

Now a Wikipedia entry has announced that the Happily Ever After fireworks will return to the Magic Kingdom on July 21st!

However, almost as soon as it appeared, the Wikipedia entry disappeared and Walt Disney Resort has not made an official announcement about the fireworks spectacular returning. The official park website still says the Happily Ever After fireworks are “temporarily unavailable”.

Disney World FireworksOptimists, though, still believe the signs are there that we could be seeing the Orlando night sky lighting up in only a few weeks.

Firstly, Disney has been hiring pyrotechnicians and designers. It has also been reported that Disney has recently started testing fireworks after hours at both Magic Kingdom.

The next good sign is that the brand new HarmonioUS, the EPCOT evening show getting ready to debut for Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration is said to include fireworks. Sure, the celebrations don’t start until October, but perhaps we could see the barges that shoot off the pyrotechnics be put to work earlier? Already the barges are being tested on the World Showcase Lagoon.

A third big sign that Disney World will be able to bring the magic of fireworks back this summer is the very recent announcement that was made about the 4th of July ‘Fireworks at the Fountain’ at Orlando’s Lake Eola.

Last year Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer cancelled the Independence Day fireworks event, however, he was happy to announce they would be back in 2021!

So, though Wikipedia giveth, then Wikipedia taketh away the announcement, it still looks like all signs are pointing towards the July 21st return of the Happily Ever After Fireworks spectacular!

And we can hardly wait!
