This is not good news, especially considering that the high season is upon us. There’s a new report that says the Disney Skyliner Gondola System has experienced yet another malfunction at Walt Disney World. Unfortunately this is the second time that it has occurred in less than a month. Here’s what you need to know.
Walt Disney World News: Disney Skyliner Gondola Malfunctions
According to social media reports, one of the doors happened to malfunction this past weekend at Walt Disney World. Many guests took to their social media accounts to document how one employee was forced to use a specialized tool to unlock the doors to a yellow Skyliner gondola cabin before closing them back up again.
With that said, Disney hasn’t made any comments about the incident or what had actually happened but it appears as though it took place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios station.
Back in April, it was reported that two gondolas collided. A video of the aftermath made its way on social media and shows one of the gondolas tilted to the side. Luckily, the gondolas crashed into each other after the passengers got out. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The incident also happened at the Hollywood Studios Skyliner station. One guest told local news stations that t appeared one of the cabins got caught on something and that she could hear glass breaking.
Back in 2019 and shortly after it opened, dozens of guests were left stranded on the ride for hours during another crash. Reports at the time said that Jennifer Mendoza and her 8-year-old daughter, Alex, were among those stuck for more than three hours when the Disney skyliner cable cars, called gondolas, got stuck.
So far reps for Walt Disney World have made no further comments about the situation.
