Legoland New York is the first Northeastern theme park to open in decades, and avid Lego fans don’t have much longer to wait for the soft opening.
On May 29, the park will begin welcoming guests after pushing back the opening date for over a year.
Six of the seven ‘lands’ within the park will be available for guests to enjoy during the soft opening: Brick Street, Bricktopia, Lego City, Lego Castle, Lego Ninjago World and Miniland.
The final land, Lego Pirates will open this summer with Legoland New York’s grand opening set for July 2.
Legoland New York Divisional Director, Stephanie Johnson understands that families are desperate to get out, and Legoland New York’s soft opening is an extremely fun way to discover new sources of entertainment.
“This preview period is our chance to welcome families who have been patiently waiting, giving them a chance to experience Legoland New York in its final stages of completion,” Johnson said.
The phased opening approach helps Legoland New York safely welcome guest while still being able to prioritize their health and safety. Safety measures will include cashless transactions, empty rows and seats on rides, mandatory face masks and hand sanitizers placed prominently at several stations throughout the park.
Boasting over 15,000 Lego models, Legoland New York will feature more than 50 interactive rides, shows and attractions including favorites like Dragon Roller Coaster, Lego Ninjago The Ride and Miniland.
All five New York City boroughs – Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island will be represented in Legoland New York’s Miniland.
Other new attractions include the LEGO Factory Adventure Ride in Bricktopia. Guests will experience the history of Lego before becoming mini-figures themselves. This new “dark ride” won’t be found at any of the eight other Legoland parks worldwide.
Just over an hour away from New York City, city-dwellers will soon have the choice of taking a quick getaway or making a weekend of it. The 250-room Legoland Hotel is scheduled to open later this year.
