A group of EPCOT guests broke pretty much every Disney rule on Sunday as they left the boat in the ‘Living With the Land’ attraction in an attempt to touch, grab and steal.
A video surfaced on Instagram late Sunday, showing one guest jump off the ride in an attempt to take a cucumber growing on a vine. The ‘heist’ went wrong, the woman stumbled and fell between the boat at the concrete landing she attempted to jump on.
Another guest, who turned out to be a part of her disruptive party alighted the moving boat and assisted the woman back on board.
If that wasn’t exasperating enough, yet another social media user added their video on Twitter, showing another perspective of ‘cucumber-gate’. Clearly you can hear another member of the disruptive part yell “Martha!” …so we have a first name! The same Twitter user wrote a short caption, revealing more about the group to whom the rules apparently do not apply.
“I had the luxury of sitting behind these morons. They actually jumped off the boat 4 different times during the ride.”
According to yet another EPCOT guest who witnessed the stupidity, the man seen on the video assisting “Martha” had jumped from the boat 4 times, starting by the farm scene. She also claims the entire party was leaning out of the boat to grab sand and throwing it around. They even helped the small child in their group to reach out and grab sand.
In a further comment on the abovementioned Twitter thread, the poster explained that he knew Cast Members could see the group’s misbehavior as the “voice of god” reminded everyone to keep their hands and arms inside the boat”
However, according to those suffering through the ride with these people, there was no further response to the situation. The guests were not approached by security when they exited the ride, much to the surprise of their fellow riders, who expected the group to be immediately escorted from the theme park.
At the time of writing Disney World reps have not made a statement in regards to the “great cucumber heist” incident.
