Few Disney offerings have been as highly anticipated as Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Wish. Likely because, even though she won’t take her maiden voyage until 2022, new and exciting onboard features are being teased almost weekly.
The latest new magical interactive feature that will be unveiled on the Disney Wish was announced just this past week and it is like nothing seen at sea before.
Posing the question, “If wishing upon a star makes your dreams come true, what happens when that star goes missing?” Disney Uncharted Adventure will send Wish guests on a quest throughout the ship to search for missing pieces of the Wishing Star.
Using the Play Disney Parks mobile app (make sure to download it for free before your cruise), guests’ devices will become a magical spyglass allowing them to view constellations, unannounced activities, and beloved characters across the ship.
Walt Disney Imagineer Davey Feder showcased the already hotly anticipated Wish feature and said, “While guests will need a mobile device to play, this isn’t a traditional mobile gaming experience. This is a heads-up, active experience that can be played with family and friends. The magic will happen all around the ship.
“The spyglass is not where the adventure takes place — it’s just the tool that brings the ship to life, opening portals into new worlds and allowing guests to interact with them.”
The Disney Wish will showcase innovative technology, the likes of which have never been seen on board before.
“Guests might admire a beautiful painting today without realizing that, hiding right beneath the surface, there’s a hoard of mischievous Kakamora from the world of Moana just waiting to escape and wreak havoc on the ship,” Feder continued the tease. “A digital menu board might showcase what’s for lunch in the afternoon, but later it will host a cooking lesson in Tiana’s own kitchen.”
Guests can play individually or team up to join the beloved Disney characters at each destination their device directs them to while on the mission to find the shattered pieces of the Wishing Star. They will be able to use their “spyglass” as a controller whenever they like, not on a set schedule (so you won’t have to wrestle the kids to dinner because they might miss a quest or clue).
The adventure will culminate in a grand finale where every guest who played the game can gather together to battle an infamous Disney villain and (hopefully) restore the wishing star to its rightful place in the sky.
