Fourth of July Fireworks at the Fountain Returning to Orlando This Year

Fireworks at the FountainThe skies above Lake Eola will be lit up again this Independence Day as the in-person 4th of July celebrations return to Orlando.

The Coronavirus pandemic saw the 2020 fireworks and celebrations cancelled. 2021 is rebounding with an extra special fire in the sky show, but precautions will still be in place.

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, fully vaccinated people will be allowed to go mask-less for the outdoor festivities if they feel comfortable doing so. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has asked for those who have chosen to not receive the vaccine to wear their mask if they are coming to enjoy the show.

Social distancing will also take place as best as possible around Lake Eola’s shores with vendors spaced out so as to limit crowds.

The decision to hold the fireworks this year came after receiving the most updated safety guidelines and Dyer held off making any announcements until he could see the number of vaccinated Orlandonians increase.

Lake EolaSays Dyer, “We’re doing a really good job of protecting ourselves and protecting our families and protecting her neighbors and doing the right thing with regard to health and science.” He added that being able to host a large event like was reflection of the community.

The 44th Annual Fireworks at the Fountain will be, as usual a family-friendly affair. Held at Lake Eola Park from 5 to 10 p.m., the night will include live entertainment and food and drink vendors. The fireworks show, accompanied by music from the Orlando Concert Band, begins at 9:15 p.m.

For those not 100% confident being amongst crowds just yet (ordinarily the event draws around 10, 000+ spectators), they will be able to watch the broadcast of the firey show from the comfort and safety of their living rooms starting at 8pm on WKMG-Channel 6 and on the local station’s website.
