Germany Relaxes Requirements For Vaccinated People And Family Travelers

Germany is preparing to tell you ‘Guten Tag’ this summer. There are new reports that say the German government has relaxed their Covid-19 rules and restrictions in order to start admitting travelers to the country this summer. Germany has blocked off their borders from U.S. travelers since the beginning of the pandemic, back in March of 2020. Here’s what you need to know.

Germany Relaxes Requirements For Vaccinated People And Family Travelers

If you’ve been dreaming of a large, cold ‘bier’ and a mouthwatering bratwurst, you’re in lick as the German government’s website recently updated to say that travelers entering Germany from the U.S. are permitted as long as they are vaccinated. What’s more, they also don’t have to be tested for the virus before entering the country. This is good news for both travelers and American citizens who have family in Germany that they haven’t seen in well over a year. Travelers from the U.S. also won’t be required to quarantine.

If you want to visit Germany this summer but are not vaccinated, there’s good news for you, too, as the country added a stipulation that they can end their mandatory quarantines earlier provided they test negative for COVID-19. The measures are designed to make summer travel easier, particularly for families when parents are vaccinated and children aren’t, which is great news for families looking to head to Europe this summer.

Germany, of course, isn’t the only European country looking to get a much needed boost to their tourism sector. Other countries such as Spain, the U.K., France, Greece and Italy are also preparing for international tourism.

Germany has reported more than 3.5 million cases of COVID-19 and just over 85,000 deaths, but they have reported fewer than 7,000 new COVID-19 cases on May 10, a significant drop from the 24,097 it reported on the same day lfrom the previous month.

In addition to the above, Germany also expects to roll out an app-based vaccine passport by the end of June.
