Here’s What You Need To Know About American Airlines’ Vaccine App

American Airlines wants to make your travel experience this summer a little bit easier. With more countries opening to vaccinated Americans, this means that more people are expected to take their travels international in the coming weeks and months. That’s why American Airlines has just debuted a vaccine passport feature that travelers can use within their mobile app. Here’s what you need to know.

Here’s What You Need To Know About American Airlines’ Vaccine App

Reports say that when you fly the friendly skies this summer, you’ll be able to verify your vaccination through the VeriFLY app. American Airlines announced that it is now letting passengers declare their vaccination status for travel to three countries through its VeriFLY digital health passport app.

As of press time, you can only use the app in the following three countries: the Bahamas, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Travelers to those countries can now upload inoculation certificates and have their validity checked before arriving at the airport.

“VeriFLY gives customers peace of mind that they can meet their destination’s travel requirements and save significant time at the airport. As countries reopen to those who have been vaccinated, we are ready with VeriFLY to help our customers travel with confidence,” Julie Rath, Vice President of Customer Experience at American, said in a statement.

With that said though, travelers are still expected to wear their masks on board, even if they are vaccinated. And while the CDC says that vaccinated people no longer need to wear their masks in indoor and outdoor settings, that doesn’t apply to airports or airplanes. Federal rules still require all travelers wear masks at all times. Unfortunately, many flight attendants have faced hundreds of passengers who have refused to follow the rules and onboard. In some instances, the conflicts have even turned violent.’
