With more and more countries opening up their borders to vaccinated Americans, a lot of people can’t help but wonder when international travelers will be coming back to the United States. There’s a new report that suggests that while it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen as soon as some people are hoping for, there’s a chance that vaccinated Europeans will still have a chance to visit New York City, Las Vegas, and Miami by this summer. Here’s what you need to know.
When Will Vaccinated Europeans Be Able Visit The U.S.?
According to a new report, the Biden administration is looking to change some of its Covid-19 travel restrictions. President Joe Biden has been weighing changes to some of the travel restrictions that have locked out most of the world’s population from coming to the United States since the beginning of the pandemic back in March of 2020. However, a White House spokesman has said there were no changes in travel restrictions planned at the moment.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said this week that lifting travel restrictions is a “public health decision and there is an interagency process and obviously the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is taking a leading role.”
“There are two ways of looking at this – one is to look at countries, the other is to look at travelers,” he added.
The news comes after the EU lifted its own ban on vaccinated Americans earlier this week. All 27 member states of the EU agreed on Wednesday to the easing of travel restrictions for the EU, following a year of severe entry restrictions. In addition, unvaccinated travelers can also avoid quarantine if they come from countries that have controlled the Covid-19 outbreak, meaning a 14-day new-case rate of less than 75 per 100,000.
