Buffet lines are finally coming back to two popular Walt Disney World restaurants- Main Street USA’s Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom on September 12 and Biergarten Restaurant in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT starting August 29
However, not everyone has received the news well.
Since EPCOT and Biergarten reopened, they’ve adopted a ‘family style’ service for lunch and dinner, offering up all you can eat platters with a lot of the old buffet’s favorites like pretzel rolls, bratwurst, spätzle, schnitzel, nudelgratin, green beans, sauerkraut, potatoes, a variety of cold salads and more.
A selection of desserts, including apple strudel and black forest rolls were also offered with a bottomless supply.
It seemed diners at Biergarten seemed to enjoy the table service, with many citing the improved hygiene as to why they’d prefer to keep it that way and other saying that, with less guests walking back and forth from the buffet, they could enjoy the Oktoberfest vibe and musicians a little better.
Returning September 12, The Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park will offer a buffet lunch and dinner as well. Currently operating at a lower capacity and with the multitude of windows and soaring ceilings, the conservatory feels like a Victorian-inspired “greenhouse” but somewhat quiet without the busyness of the buffet and the visits from old friends of the 100 Acre Wood. At least part of that will be back soon enough (and here’s hoping Winnie and friends won’t be too far behind).
Disney is quick to remind guests that to dine at an in-park restaurant, you need a confirmed dining reservation for the total number of guests—regardless of age, plus a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on that same date for each Guest aged 3 and up.
Dining reservations do not guarantee access to a park, and Park Hopper availability may change daily. We recommend Guests book in-park dining at the park where they have a Disney Park Pass reservation.
