If you are having a hard time keeping up with all of the changes to the travel requirements that are being made by the airline, hotel and cruise industries, don’t worry because we’ve got you. In fact, there are new reports that say Carnival Cruise Line has announced new changes to their COVID-19 vaccination requirements. Here’s what you need to know!
COVID-19 Travel: Carnival Cruise Line Announces Changes To Vaccine Requirements
The company says that beginning August 29th, cruise guests over the age of 12 will now need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless they have a medical condition that does not allow them to be vaccinated. An exception will be made for children under the age of 12, who must present a birth certificate or passport when they board.
Carnival Cruise Line says the vaccine requirement is needed because of the uptick of COVID-19 cases both at home and abroad. Just recently, a 77-year-old passenger was traveling on the Carnival Vista ship that departed from Galveston, Texas on July 31 for Belize and died August 14th. The woman’s vaccination status was not given, but Carnival said that since ships started sailing again in July, more than 95 percent of passengers have been vaccinated.
“Given the number of itineraries that include multiple destinations throughout the Caribbean and, in particular, in The Bahamas, and the need for us from time to time to adjust itineraries due to medical, technical or weather emergencies, we will now operate all sailings under this requirement,” a statement said on the company’s web site.
However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis banned vaccine passports and refused to allow an exemption for the cruise industry.
