Now, this is what you call a great way to kick off World Princess Week! Disney has just revealed their new concept art for “The Princess and the Frog’s” retheming of Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and at Disneyland. Here’s what you need to know!
Take A Sneak Peek At Disney’s “The Princess And The Frog” Concept Art
The new concept art shows Tiana, along with Naveen and Louis, as they set off on a new adventure to host a Mardi Gras party. The attraction will feature most of the characters from the animated movie, which are also seen in the concept art. For the new attraction, Tiana will also invite guests to go on an adventure in the Bayou with “active participants.” The ride will end with an ultimate Mardi Gras party.
Back in 2020, Disney announced that they would re-theme Splash Mountain to “The Princess and the Frog,” after a petition went up on Change.org asking Disney to retheme Splash Mountain due to the fact that the current attraction was focused on Song of the South a Disney movie with some questionable perspectives on Reconstruction-era race relations.
“The Princess and the Frog” ride, tentatively titled New Adventures with Princess Tiana, will be almost the same log flume ride attraction that is being developed for Critter Country at Disneyland and Frontierland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Currently, Splash Mountain is not currently on the Disney World or Disneyland Resort attraction refurbishment calendars.
