This Is What You Need To Know Before Traveling To Europe This Summer

If it seems like a dream come true for some travelers, that’s because it certainly is. After keeping their doors shut for the last 14 points due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union is finally opening its doors for vaccinated Americans. Yet, there are a few things you should know before booking your trip to Barcelona or Paris.

This Is What You Need To Know Before Traveling To Europe This Summer

While the EU Commission has recommended easting restrictions on non-essential travel from overseas guests, the CDC still doesn’t want you to go anywhere, regardless if you have been vaccinated or not. The European Union said that even though they are looking to ease the restrictions that have been put on travelers, they won’t hesitate to slam on the “emergency break should Covid-19 infections rise again. Right now, Covid-19 is ravaging India with a lot people worried that strains of the virus might make its way to other parts of the world.

Should you want to visit any of the EU member countries this summer, the European Commission proposes that travelers be inoculated 14 days before arrival with a vaccine from its approved list, including BioNTech/Pfizer, Oxford University/AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna. However, Greece last month said almost all fully vaccinated or Covid-tested international travelers can come from mid-May.

“Member states could also extend this to those vaccinated with a vaccine having completed the WHO emergency use listing process,” an EC statement added.

What’s more, the EU is currently working on a Digital Green Certificate, or a vaccine passport as many people would like to call it, that would provide a standard of proof that travelers have been vaccinated, tested negative for COVID-19, or have recovered from COVID-19.

But until the vaccine passports are operational, each country in the EU will be permitted to make their own determinations on how to evaluate vaccination status from outside travelers.

In addition to Greece, both Malta and Iceland have made plans to open their borders to vaccinated Americans while France says that it will lift their restrictions beginning in June. We will update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
