Universal Studios Orlando Responds to the CDC Mask Guidelines Change

Universal Orlando Resort is one of the first Florida theme park to release a statement as to whether they will loosen mask requirements or continue on with current operations.

With the Covid vaccine rollout being very successful, the Center for Disease Control has updated its mask guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals. Now that vaccinated people are allowed to engage in several mask less activities, questions were raised about what that means for theme park visits.

Universal Studios Responds With a Statement

Universal Orlando Spokesperson, Tom Schroder made the first of any Florida based theme park saying:

“The health and safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority. We will review the CDC guidelines and work with local health officials to determine how we move forward in a way that is best for our guests, our team members, and our business. For now, we will continue to operate under our existing and enhanced health and safety protocols.”

The content of this statement is unsurprising and it is believed all other theme parks will keep their current protocols due to the fact that they are reaching (new, curtailed) capacity daily. While the CDC did not specify a number when allowing vaccinated folk to mingle mask less with other vaccinated and non-vaccinated people in outdoor setting, they did use the term ‘small group’.

Another recommendation the CDC made is that fully vaccinated people wear a mask at outdoor spaces where the risk of Covid-19 is less clear, specifically crowded places.<

It seems for now that The Universal Orlando Resort, including Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and CityWalk will continue with their stringent health and safety protocols so guests will feel safe when they hop aboard the Hogwarts Express , scream their lungs out on The Incredible Hulk Coaster or take flight on E.T.’s Adventure.
