The Caribbean is generally a popular destination for a family vacation, but some islands have more fun activities than others. In fact, Turks and Caicos have many fun things to do for the whole family, of any age. Whether it is the idyllic beaches, the crystal-clear aqua waters and the lighthearted ambiance, the islands come highly recommended for family fun. The following are five of the best fun activities to enjoy on a family vacation.
1. Long Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos
With its shallow waters and sugar-white sand, this 3-mile beach is a perfect spot for families with younger children. Here, the whole family can swim and relax in the tropical atmosphere. Meanwhile, Long Bay Beach is known for its colorful signboard, pointing to various other idyllic locations.
2. Provo Ponies, Long Bay Beach
While visiting Long Bay Beach, one perfect fun activity is horseback riding along the sand. Provo Ponies offer 60 to 90-minute pony rides from their stable in Providenciales for the whole family. The pony rides are suitable for expert equestrians and newbies and let visitors enjoy the beach in a unique way. The kids will have so much fun, riding on the sand and in the clear, clean surf. Meanwhile, the activity is recommended for children aged 6 and above.
3. Grace Bay Beach
Staying with Turks and Caicos beaches, Grace Bay Beach is also ideal for a family vacation. The white-sand beach spreads for 12 miles, giving plenty of room for anyone wanting to swim or sunbathe. Meanwhile, for families with older children, Grace Bay Beach offers a wide range of watersports, including paddle-boarding, surfing and parasailing.
4. Turks And Caicos National Museum
While the islands are known for their gorgeous sunny weather, it does occasionally rain. What better activity for kids on a rainy day than a visit to a museum? The Turks and Caicos National Museum opened in 1991 and offers exhibits relating to the culture and history of the islands. While the museum doesn’t have state-of-the-art exhibits, it is still an educational experience for the little ones. Here, they can learn about the natural history of Turks and Caicos, as well as the lives of slaves. Meanwhile, the museum also hosts the oldest known shipwreck in the New World.
5. Grand Turk Lighthouse
The Grand Turk Lighthouse was established in 1852 and while it no longer operates, it is still a load of fun for the kids. The historic 60-foot lighthouse offers a small gift shop and a fun zipline course, perfect for the kids. Meanwhile, the area around the lighthouse is ideal for a fun picnic, while occasionally being visited by the free-roaming donkeys that live here.
Take the whole family for a fun vacation in Turks and Caicos on your next Caribbean trip to enjoy these and many more fun activities.
