Guten Tag! Those are two words that you will probably hear yourself saying this summer as there’s a new report that says Germany has officially dropped the United States from their Covid-19 risk list, which will clear the way for Americans to visit the country this summer. And just in time for all of the Euro2020 action too, right? Here’s what you need to know.

Germany Is Dropping Covid-19 Travel Restrictions For Americans: Here’s What You Need To Know

If you’ve been craving beer, pretzels, and schnitzel dinners, we’ve got good news for you as Americans can start planning their trips to visit Germany this summer. The announcement was made by Germany’s health agency, the Robert Koch Institute, during the release of its updated global COVID-19 risk evaluation for countries around the world.

Germany is allowing non-vaccinated Americans to enter their country for non-essential traveling purposes beginning this Sunday. The decision was announced in a press release of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs.

“In view of the lower number of infections in several third countries, the federal government will in future allow entry for all permissible purposes of residence, including tourism, from the USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Albania, Serbia, North Macedonia and Lebanon,” the Ministry notes in the press release.

If you will be arriving in Germany by plane this summer, you will still need to complete a digital entry form and upload the documents. More than 60 percent of Germans have received their first Cov-19 shot, but fewer than 30% of German adults in Germany have received both doses.

Germany, of course, isn’t the only European country looking to get a much-needed boost to its tourism sector. Other countries such as Spain, the U.K., France, Greece, and Italy are also preparing for international tourism. We will definitely update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
