Walt Disney World Refurbishments & Closures in the Month of May

Are you heading to one of the Walt Disney World parks or resorts this month? Then you will want to know all about the refurbishments and closures happening over the next month.

Here is the full list of Walt Disney World refurbishments and closures during the month of May.

Magic Kingdom

Hall of Presidents

Unfortunately, if you’re heading to the Magic Kingdom this month you will not be able to visit the Hall of Presidents. It has been closed for awhile because imagineers are adding an animatronic of President Joe Biden. A reopening date has not been announced as of yet.

Walt Disney World Railroad

It seems like forever that the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed. It has  been closed for over 2 years due to the ongoing construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run. Unfortunately, the constructions is blocking the railroad’s path through Tomorrowland.  A reopening date has not been announced.

Main Street Confectionery

Everyone’s favorite sweet treat shop closed last month for refurbishments. An official opening date has not been announced but rumour has it it could reopen for July 4th.

Epcot

Epcot itself is undergoing major refurbishments, but the park remains open throughout the work.

Pin Traders

This shop is closed for a short period during the month of May for minor refurbishments.  It’s scheduled to reopen on May 7.

Walt Disney World Resorts

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

One of the most popular resorts at Disney has been going through major updates for months. The rooms are getting a total refurbishment and will be Moana themed when they reopen on July 19th. The Great Ceremonial House, and monorail station are also undergoing major refurbishments. Ohana is also closed, but rumour has it that the restaurant will be opening in July (possibly around the same time of the new rooms).

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The resort is still open but the main tower guest rooms are being worked on and will be Incredibles themed when they reopen. Refurbishments are expected to finish by September. The rest of the resort is unaffected.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

The waterslide and splash zone at Meadow Swimmin‘ Pool are closed for refurbishment. They are expected reopen by the end of May.
