Things are certainly going back to the way things were over at Walt Disney World. Much to the delight of Magic Kingdom fans everywhere, there’s a new report that says the PeopleMover is finally up and running again. As many fans know, the PeopleMover in the Magic Kingdom has been closed since March of 2020, when the ongoing pandemic that has been the coronavirus shut down Walt Disney World for several long months. Following one delay after another (and there have been plenty), it’s finally running again. Here’s what you need to know.
Walt Disney World’s People Mover… Is Moving Again!
Not only are Disney guests excited about this, but apparently so is Jeff Vahle, President of Walt Disney World. He shared earlier this week that the PeopleMover is reopening and that he recently checked in with the team in charge of the refurbishment.
Vahle wrote on Instagram,
“On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, I stopped by to check in with the Engineering team overseeing the refurbishment of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, previously called the “WEDway PeopleMover” when I first rode it as a teenager. Thrilled that this team has it ready to delight a new generation when it reopens later this weekend! The magic is back at Walt Disney World and I couldn’t be any more excited.”
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for Disney fans to respond on social media. Many of them wrote in the comments section,
“Jeff, we need this ride back!!! Don’t let us down buddy!” along with, “Now just get WDW Railroad open and I’ll be a happy happy guest. That has been my favorite attraction ever since I was a small kid.”
Another fan wrote, “So excited! I watched them testing when I was there about two weeks ago!! Things are finally moving forward and back to normal again. This has been a long time coming.”
