With the travel industry slowly but surely heading back to the way things were before the global pandemic hit in 2020, it looks like Disney fans will have something to look forward to sooner rather than later. That’s because there’s some speculation that FastPass might be returning to Walt Disney World. Here’s what you need to know.
Fastpass Might Be Returning To Walt Disney World Soon
Even though Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida re-opened its doors to a limited capacity last summer after a four-month closure because of Covid-19 pandemic, FastPass was one of the guest benefits that did not return. The virtual queue system allows guests to avoid long lines at the attractions on which the system is installed, freeing them to partake of other attractions during their wait.
Those that have used FastPass in the past know that you can choose your FastPass or FastPass+ selections up to 30 days in advance of your visit—starting at 7:00 AM Eastern Time. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can make your FastPass+ selections up to 60 days prior to check-in for the entire length of your stay.
Obviously, guests can’t wait for FastPass to return, especially as more and more vaccinated Disney fans are returning to the parks and the lines of course are getting longer. With that said, eagle-eyed fans noticed that a chance has recently been made on the My Disney Experience app. Wait times for rides now show as “Standby Wait’ option which suggests that Fastpass might return sooner than anticipated.
Many guests have even been asking about when the service will return, seeing how the park capacities are getting closer to pre-pandemic numbers. Guests should also note that the FastPass and FastPass+ service is not offered with the purchase of tickets or annual passes. We will definitely update you with all of the latest details when they come in.
