MSC Cruises Are Back: Splendida Welcoming Back Guests

MSC Cruises Are Back: Splendida Welcoming Back Guests

At this point it’s safe to say that cruising is definitely back and according to some fans, it’s better than ever before (or at least it’s much cleaner than before). There’s a new report that says MSC Cruises have kicked off the summer by welcoming back guests on the MSC Splendida. Here’s what you need to know.

MSC Cruises Are Back: Splendida Welcoming Back Guests

According to reports, the Splendida is the first ship to restart summer sailings with a 7-night cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean from the northern Italian port of Trieste.

Stop are being made to Ancona, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Bari, Italy; the Greek island of Corfu and Kotor in Montenegro or Split in Croatia before the ship returns back to Trieste.

And while fans are very excited to get back to cruising, a separate report says that two passengers on board MSC’s Seaside ship have tested positive for Covid-19. Both passengers were asymptomatic and tested positive during a routine test scheduled midway through the itinerary during all MSC cruises.

“Immediately after testing positive, the two passengers and their traveling parties were isolated,” the company’s spokesperson Paige Rosenthal said. “Similarly, their close contacts were quickly identified and isolated.”

The good news is that the additional passengers who were traveling with the two guests have tested negative, as did others who were in close contact with them.

For the most part of this summer, MSC Cruises is staying close to home. The company has swapped out international itineraries for UK-only sailings in the hopes that British travelers desperate to escape after months of lockdown will be tempted by promises of seaside views and all the amenities of a cruise ship.

MSC Cruises are only available to UK residents, but the cruise line has opted to allow non-vaccinated guests on board.

Tell us, how you do feel about this? Are you planning any trips this summer? If so, will you be staying close to home, going on a cruise, or traveling internationally for the first time in a year?
